Boots on the Ground

Just a few days ago, Salt Lake Police cleared out camps of unsheltered folks, destroying property and leaving the unsheltered in the cold.

Here’s some news about it:
Health department cleans up homeless camp in Rio Grande area after complaints
Police clear out Salt Lake City homeless camp
Nearly 80% of the money budgeted for Operation Rio Grande was used for policing, jail beds and court costs

QueerMeals is working with Black Lives for Humanity and RepUtah to help gather materials to be distributed to the unsheltered of SLC.

Because we’d like to get these items into the hands of the unsheltered as soon as possible, this is what we need folks to do:

  1. Purchase items online (links provided) (If you find a better option, get that.)
or at a store near 84601 (Orem, Lindon, Springville)
  2. Bring them to our drop-off at 2961 W 730 N, Provo, UT 84601 OR
  3. Set the pickup person as (name) Jeffery Pool (email) jhpool@gmail
  4. If you have any of these items sitting around in your home, we’ll take them

We are gathering the following items:

Firewood: buy at Walmart.com | buy it at Lowes.com | local firewood delivered to the dro-poff is welcome

Handwarmers: buy at Walmart.com | buy it at Lowes.com

Sterno: buy at Walmart.com
