On this page, you’ll notice that we’ve included several local nonprofits. Honestly, our budget of $5,000/year is enough for the work we do. We spend it on case good sales to stock the food and toiletries pantry we run out of our garage, fuel to make pickups and deliveries, occasional pizzas, care packages and whatever odd requests we are able to fill.
We keep our budget low and generally do not do fundraising beyond this page, because we never want to profit from queer trauma. One day, we hope to expand our efforts to include an assisted-living facility that allows queer folks to have a place they can stay if they do not feel safe living on their own, but are not ready to go to an inpatient psychiatric facility. If you want to support that effort, contact Jerilyn, the founder of QueerMeals, here.
We’d like to use this opportunity to spotlight other organizations that are also dedicated to the health and well-being of LGBTQIA2S+ folks in Utah. These organizations all work directly with the queer community, assisting people who fall through the cracks of or who have been harmed by larger organizations. Many, if not all, of these organizations are stretched thin and working their hardest to support the queer community of Utah. Their work is life-saving, especially in the current political climate.
